| Charreador |
After my first character reached lvl 80, I didn't play much of GW2. Higher level areas are a bit boring, his personal quest was also buggy and thus unfinishable, and I didn't like Orr. So. Offline gaming.
Anyway, after finishing UFO:AL, I had a nagging little feeling that I should go back and play with one of the alts. The one I picked is my midget asura thief with the witty name: Charreador.
Compared to the necromancer, the thief's playstyle is very different. I use evasion a lot more, and there are some skill synergies which may or may not be intended ones, but they work very well. For example, I learned a skill that can create a trap, and I have a sword skill that shadowsteps to the enemy, attacks it, and on a subsequent activation, it takes me back to the original point, behind the trap.. Lo and Behold, the monster is running straight into the trap, and I even have a short time to use a heal skill.
The only thing that I find a bit worrying is the lack of healing. With the necro life leech was acting almost as a constant healing effect, thus, especially on the higher levels, I didn't need to use my healing ability that much. I don't use it too often with Charreador either.. because it is on CD all the time. Ok, this is not exactly true, but I often find myself wishing for another source of healing.
As of now, I have no idea how to play this class effectively, which talents should I choose, etc. But I will find out soon, and will share my experiences. In the meantime, good advice is also welcome.

In my opinion, I think Thief is THE hardest class to play in PvE. Their core mechanic, stealth, is great against players but frustrating to use against mobs. Especially if you're alone, when you stealth, the mob immediately de-aggros and basically resets.
ReplyDeleteI suggest getting the trap Ambush ASAP. It summons a thief who will sponge some damage and allow you to get in a few backstabs in to burst that monster down.
